Rickey Davis
Biography
Name: Rickey Davis, Grew up racing in the San Antonio area TEX-4 and all over the U.S from 1978 to 1986. Was a Factory Powerlite rider and also Factory sponsored by my Dad for my full race life. I would say in early and mid 80s my class was the most stacked class in all of BMX, you can go down the list of HOF riders from any state and see this fact. From a young age I really just loved being on my bike and even to this day still enjoy it fully either on the trails or just riding around the hood. I literally grew up at a BMX track so I can honestly say the sport had a huge impact on me as kid and even today as an adult. I had many many accomplishments during my race life but too many to list so here are just a few. In 1984 I accumulated over 25000 points, this was second in the nation if I remember correctly on that stat and from what I hear is still high on the list even today. 1983 was not bad either with over 16000 points accumulated, some weeks we raced 8 times during the hard core summer months and the TX tour, like I had said before this was our life growing up. From Dec 1983 to Feb 1984 I had 24 first place wins in a row, not bad considering my competition. in 1984 from Jan 1st to Mar 7th I had 44 first place wins. In 1983 I had over 320 total races and had 140 first place wins in that same year. My total career races over 1900. My biggest fan was always my father Jay Davis and with out him none of the above would have been possible, he is my my best friend to this day and I can say with full confidence that our great relationship we have was because of all the time we spent together at BMX races when I was growing up. He never missed a race and that was huge for me, I hope one day my Son gets into BMX and I have the same opportunity as my Dad and I did. I thank the Texas BMX Hall Of fame for this honor to be a part of this group of people.
